The Veterans Success Manager is responsible for strengthening the relationship between Georgia Gwinnett College and the military community. The position is responsible for increasing veteran service member enrollment in Georgia Gwinnett College academic programs, and ensuring the success of military, veterans, and dependent students. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develop face-to-face relationships with prospective military students, military education coordinators, veterans’ organizations, and business and industry professionals.
  • Organize and direct companies desiring to hire student veterans with the Office of Veterans Success and all appropriate Georgia Gwinnett College departments related to public interactions.
  • Conduct recruitment visits to various military installations and organizations.
  • Attend military conferences and events that target specific military populations interested in pursuing higher education.
  • Actively seek opportunities to engage the community, local and county government organizations such as chambers of commerce, secretary state offices, small business administration, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Student Veterans of America.
  • Work collaboratively with GGC’s admissions, marketing, and academic affairs units for the purpose of recruiting military students.
  • Provide advisement to military affiliated students.
  • Supervise operations of the Military/Veterans Center and VA Work Study students.
  • Maintain efficient and effective tracking of veteran student recruitment, enrollment, retention, and Military Outreach activities utilizing internal and external database programs.
  • Coordinate the delivery of special veterans’ related programs (e.g., Veterans Day, Memorial Day, and veterans support groups).
  • Conduct training for faculty and staff on matters related to military affiliated students.
  • Responsible for billing the Veterans Administration.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

REQUIRED QUALFICATIONS

  • 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree in a field closely related to and/or aligned with the responsibilities of the office
  • Veteran and/or member of the Military
  • Four or more years in veteran related position

PREDERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate Degree
  • 1-2 years Veteran and/or Military credentials with work in Higher Education

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Position may require local travel. Depending upon specific duties, position may require a College issued uniform or shirt to ensure employees engaged in representing the College to the community are clearly identified as such. Ability to lift and carry files and materials. Ability to move from one office to another office on campus. Adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone and in writing. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
